Dr. Xiaodong ZHANG is a professor and doctoral supervisor in School of Energy science & Engineering, Henan Polytechnic University (HPU). he obtained his master degree in 1999 from  HPU and PhD degree  in 2005 from China University of Mining and Technology (CUMT).

Prof. Zhang have worked in HPU since 2005. He is mainly engaged in the exploration and development of unconventional natural gas, coalbed gas geology and the mechanism and prevention of coal and gas outburst. He has presided over nearly 20  researches  and  consulting  projects, including National Natural Science Foundation projects, Science Foundation of the Henan Province, enterprise cooperation projects and etc. He publish more than 60 journals and proceedings papers and have 4 natural invention patents of China.
