Dr. Sheng Zhang, Director of mining experiment center of School of Energy Science and Engineering, Henan Polytechnic University (HPU), China, is a professor and doctoral supervisor in mining engineering program. He is also vice director of State and Local Joint Engineering Laboratory for Gas Drainage & Ground Control of Deep Mines, Henan Polytechnic University. He received his master degree in 2003 from HPU and PhD degree from Sichuan University in 2007. In 2012~2013, as a visiting scholar, he ever studied in Department of Mining Engineering under the guidance of Dr. GT. Lineberry in University of Kentucky, U.S.A.

He has supervised more than 30 researches and consulting projects from National Natural Science Foundation and Coal Group Companies and etc. and gained 5 Provincial Prize on Science and Technology. He authored and co-authored one book and more than 60 journals and proceedings papers in the areas of rock mechanic, surrounding rock control and underground pressure. He once went abroad to attend the international conferences or academic exchange in American.

Research interests: mainly on rock fracture mechanic, surrounding rock control.
