Dr. Deguo Xiong is a professor at School of Energy Science and Engineering, Henan Polytechnic University (HPU). He earned his master and Ph.D. degree from Chongqing University major in mining mechanical engineering (1995) and mining system engineering (2004) respectively. His main research interests include system engineering, operation research and network flow theory. From 04/2008 to 09/2008, Dr. Xiong was a visiting scholar at Muroran Institute of Technology, Japan, during which he conducted researches about network flow in collaboration with Prof. Jian-Ming Shi. Since he joined HPU in 2004, Dr. Xiong has been the principal investigator (PI) of 2 province funded projects and the co-PI of 4 projects of National Natural Science Foundation of China. Dr. Xiong’s research on cyclic economy won the province level award in the year of 2011. As a leading author, Dr. Xiong authored the textbook “Operation research for logistics”, which was planned during the “13th Five-year Plan”, He also co-authored the textbook “Engineering economy”. Also, his publication list includes over 20 research articles and conference proceedings. Dr. Xiong won the top prize of the HPU YueQi teaching competition in 2012, and was awarded the title of HPU demonstrative educator in 2013.
