Dr. Xiaoming Ni, is a professor in School of Energy Science and Engineering. He obtained his PhD from China University of Mining and Technology(Beijing) in 2008. His doctoral thesis was awarded the nomination award of the 100 Excellent Doctoral Dissertations in China. He is one of the provincial science and technology innovation talents, the young core teachers in Henan Province.

He mainly engages in gas geology, coalbed methane exploration in the field of scientific research and teaching work. He has presided or participated in items more than 20, which include oil and gas major projects, 973, National Natural Fund, Henan major public welfare projects, enterprise commissioned projects and so on.

So far, he has gained 6 Provincial or Ministeriallevel Prize on Science and Technology, and has possessed 34 invention patents and 30 utility model patents. There are 4 books authored and coauthored by him, which are “CBM geology", "Coalbed Methane development decision system technology and application", "CBM permeability changing and drainage control", and "CBM vertical wells reservoir transformation technology and application" respectively. In the meanwhile, more than 60 journals and proceedings papers in the areas of Coalbed Methane subsidence have been published.
